Places to see Christmas lights (in Georgia)

Hey everyone and welcome to The Alternative South. I know just about everyone loves Christmas and Christmas lights. I know a lot of people are out there looking for places to see Christmas lights. Most of these I feel would be completely worth going to see!

Granted I’m not really a huge Christmas person (I blame retail) I still love going to look at Christmas lights. I don’t know what it is about looking at them but they are always so pretty. Not only that but it always grabs my attention.

Even though I’m really not a huge fan of Christmas anymore I do think that Christmas lights do kind of get me in the Christmas spirit a little bit. Not getting in the Christmas spirit is something that I actually want to change this year as well. I miss finding Christmas fun and I want to change that for my four-year-old.

He definitely deserves to have a family that will make Christmas fun for him even though we don’t exactly find Christmas fun anymore. By doing that we are going to try and take him to see some Christmas lights this year because we know he will love them.

If you’re planning on doing this then this might be a great thing to add to your Winter Bucket List. Not only that but this could be a great thing to add to your Georgia bucket list as well!

Places to see Christmas lights in Georgia

Hopefully, you find some places to go to and have some fun this year! Let me know in the comments which ones I missed!

Ludy’s Christmas Light Spectacular

So this one is in Columbus Georgia and I’m not fully sure if it’s worth it. It seems awfully small for someone like me to take the drive up there just for it to really not take that long. If you’re close by then I definitely say go check this one out.

If you’re wanting to look into this one then you find their website here. The good thing about this one is that it is free. If you’re close by then that really does make it worth going to.

If you’re from this area then let me know in the comments if it’s really worth driving a couple of hours to go and see the lights. Maybe if there’s something else to do in the area before we go see the lights then it might be really worth it.

Fantasy in lights at Callaway Gardens

So it has been years and I mean YEARS since I have gone to Callaway Gardens. It has been nearly ten years since I have gone and ever since I have really wanted to go again.

Literally every single year I have said that I wanted to go and take my husband there with me. The first time I had gone it was right around the time that my husband and I started dating. He wasn’t able to go with us since it was kind of a last-minute thing. On top of that, I was supposed to work that day but I had called out since I was not feeling well AT ALL. I probably shouldn’t have gone in the first place but it wasn’t a contagious kind of sick. It was more of my acid reflux acting up and NOT easing up.

So, literally every time I think about even going here all I can really think about is how sick I felt. Now I kind of want to go back and create a new memory with it where I’m not sick at all and I’m able to now go with my husband and my son.

I do recommend going here because it’s actually really fun!

Holiday Lights in Veteran’s Park

So, I’m not really sure if this is one that we will even bother doing.

I have to be honest that it does seem kind of nice. It’s a drive-through light display that’s about two miles long. That may be worth it for some but since it cost $20 to even do then it’s probably something that we won’t even consider.

I know that may seem bad. For something that I feel is probably only going to take a few minutes and then obviously the drive in order for us to get there really isn’t worth it.

You can find them here if you’re wanting to look more into it. If you’re close to the area and have quite a few people going with you then it might actually be worth going to and actually seeing.

If this is one that you have gone to then let me know in the comments what you think about it!

Wild Adventures

places to see Christmas lights

So, Wild Adventures is such a fun thing to do if you’re in south Georgia.

Wild Adventures is actually an amusement park that does all sorts of things. So, you don’t have to just go here to look at the lights. You can ride a lot of the rides as well.

Wild Adventures is one of those great places to see Christmas lights in south Georgia since there’s really not a lot to do around here anyways.

Even though this is probably one of the few places to actually go see Christmas lights down here it’s still really fun to see and do. Not only that but they have a lot of fun rides there too.

They have a Christmas train where you can see animals as well. On top of that, they have a Christmas trail where they have animals as well. It is so much fun and definitely worth going to.

Illumights at Zoo Atlanta

So I actually had no idea that the Zoo in Atlanta really did anything for Christmas to begin with! That kind of makes me excited and want to go one day soon.

If you don’t go to the Zoo in Atlanta then I highly recommend going to visit the zoo, to begin with. The Christmas lights there would be an added bonus.

I went to the zoo and the aquarium back in my early twenties and I do think it’s about that time to try and go again. We probably won’t go anytime around December. But I might try planning to go sometime next year and see how our son likes it.

I do think that I want to try going there one December though and see all of the Christmas lights and the animals. It would be a really cool experience!

Holly Jolly Jekyll

So there are tons of things to do on Jekyll island. If you’re wanting to go to just have a little bit of fun or if you’re just wanting to go for the lights. Or you know maybe you can go for both things.

Jekyll island is somewhere I have never been and I really want to go there. I have been seeing things about this area on my Pinterest. It seems like such a fun place to go to. So whether we go during the holiday season or just go sometime during the holiday season I still want to go.

Visiting here during the holiday season seems like it would be one hundred percent worth it. You have a lot of options for things to do here. If you’re traveling here you’re not only having to just see the lights but you can also tour around the area as well.

If you are wanting to look more into this then you can find that here.

Stone Mountain Christmas

Places to see Christmas lights

I actually haven’t been to the Stone Mountain area since I was a teenager. I do remember it being something that I had actually enjoyed, but it’s been so long that I don’t remember a lot about it.

Even if you don’t really care anything about seeing the lights I still highly recommend going here and visiting. Granted it is kind of a touristy thing to do but there’s a reason that it is so popular.

Even if you don’t really go again it’s something that is pretty fun to do at least once. If you enjoy being outdoors then this is a great opportunity to actually do something outdoors. I know I would enjoy doing it again!

Winter Wonder Lights

Winter Wonder Lights is one of those perfect places to see Christmas lights. This one is in Greensboro, GA and it seems like there really is a lot to it. I know this one costs money and it looks like it cost $16 for everyone 4 years and up. To me, that’s a little bit on the pricey side.

But if you have a big group it does look like it may cost $20 for the whole group. If you’re wanting to go then I probably suggest taking more people. That way you can buy through the group option.

But like I said earlier it does seem like there’s a lot to this one. So maybe it’s worth the money if you actually go and do it. This will be a fun way to make memories as well. Have any of you gone to this one?

Do you enjoy going to look at Christmas lights? If you’re from Georgia then let me know what places to see Christmas lights I may have missed. I love figuring out where to go to see them. Maybe one day we’ll get the chance to see them all!
