Fun things to do in Valdosta GA

Have you been wanting to visit Georgia and not really sure where to go? Or have you recently moved to Valdosta GA and don’t really know what to do? There are quite a few fun things to do in Valdosta GA but sometimes it can be hard to figure out what to do and when exactly you want to do it.

I know there are a lot of options here to get out and do something. The only issue is that if you’re the type of person who has to have something to do every single weekend then you might need to look elsewhere.

Valdosta is a college town, but it is still one of those towns that don’t really have a lot going on. Maybe there are a lot of events going on on campus but when it comes to things around Valdosta, I wouldn’t say there’s a lot to do.

It all just depends on if you’re able to make the most of what there is here to do. The fun things to do in Valdosta GA are completely worth it and are really fun things to do.

South Georgia Pecan Company

South Georgia Pecan Company is one of those fun things to do in Valdosta GA. If you’re a fan of pecans, then this might be a great place to go to.

I don’t think I have ever really thought twice about going here. To be honest I don’t think I knew about the South Georgia Pecan Company until maybe a couple of months ago.

A few months ago, is when I actually tried to do some research on some things to do around the area. We have lived in the Valdosta area for a long time, but we really haven’t put ourselves out there very much.

South Georgia Pecan Company is probably a good and short thing to do around the area.

Fun things to do in Valdosta GA such as Wild Adventures

Just in case you didn’t know Valdosta does have an amusement park. Wild Adventures is actually a really fun amusement park. This is the place to go to on the days that you don’t really have a lot to do.

One of the cool things though is that parts of Zombieland were actually filmed at Wild Adventures. I think this is something that I will not stop telling people. I love Zombieland so it’s something I’ll probably bring up a lot.

I do suggest going here because I feel like it is one of the more fun things to do in Valdosta GA. There are tons of rides that are there for adults and kids. On top of that, they do have a little zoo with a lot of animals. The animals are such a fun thing to look at.

Another thing is that the amusement park does have a water park that you can do during the warmer months.

Valdosta Wake Compound

The Valdosta Wake Compound is another one of those fun things to do in Valdosta GA. This is something that’s actually right around the Wild Adventures area.

If you’re interested in water sports then I really suggest going to do this. Even if you have some sort of interest in water sports then I would suggest maybe going to try this out.

This seems like it would be such a fun thing to do especially if you have the ability to keep balance.

Fun things to do in Valdosta GA on Friday First Friday

First Friday is one of those fun things to do in Valdosta GA for adults. I don’t really see kids having fun with this one but I can see a lot of adults having fun with it.

First Friday is a day where they have shopping, drinking, and music. If you’re not really planning on drinking much then I suggest taking your kid. All you’re pretty much going to do is shopping anyways.

I do have to say that First Friday does run a little late but you can always leave a little early.

This is definitely something that I want to try out but I haven’t wanted to go with my son. Not that I want to take him but I figured it may be a little too much.

Georgia Beer Co.

My husband actually went to the Georgia Beer Company a year or two ago. This is actually the only brewery that I know of around south Georgia.

This is an excellent area to go to and see how exactly the beer is made. On top of that, I think you’re able to taste some of the beer.

The Crescent at Valdosta Garden Center

This is an area that I kind of want to go and visit sometime soon. I actually didn’t know about the garden center until I started doing some research on this post.

I know most of you probably wonder why I’m doing research on it if I have lived around this area all of my life. It’s partly because I really don’t get out of the house very much as it is. However, I do want to change that.

I want to start doing more fun things around my area instead of staying home all of the time. It’s something I don’t want to regret doing.

The Garden Center is definitely another area that I want to go to and try visiting sometime soon. It seems like it would be a fun area to go to with my son.

Lowndes County Historical Museum

I know there are a lot of you who are probably seeing this and are probably history buffs. To me, I don’t think a city would be much of a city without some sort of history museum.

I have to be honest, I’m not really that interested in history. It’s something that has lost my interest a lot over the years. I’m not even sure why but history has never really been my thing. But I do kind of want to change that up a little bit.

I have slowly realized that history can be kind of fun and we should all kind of want to learn about our past. Soon I kind of want to take the time to go to the Valdosta museum and actually learn about the city that I live in.

We have a habit of not really learning about the places we live or the past of the city we live in. I want to work on that and learn about the area!

Fun things to do in Valdosta GA outdoors Grand Bay Wetland Center

Grand Bay Wetland Center is actually a really cool place to go and visit. I have gone here twice to walk the trail and really enjoyed it.

I am a very outdoorsy person. Considering how hot it gets down here I’m not really sure why I like the outdoors anymore. It’s hot and on top of that, it’s hard to breathe because of the humidity. Now that it’s allergy season that’s only getting worse.

But I still have to admit that the Grand Bay Wetland Center is actually a really fun place to go to if you like being outdoors. The area is really pretty and it doesn’t really take that long to go through. At the very end of the trail, there is a tall tower that you can climb to the top of and pretty much see the whole area.

This is a very pretty area that I suggest you may need to go to at least once and see how you like it!

The Azalea City Trail

So I don’t think there’s a lot to The Azalea City Trail. I think this trail is close to the college.

To be honest, even looking it up online I don’t know if there’s really a lot to the trail. Honestly, it wouldn’t even hurt to try and see if this is something that you would enjoy.

Like I said I’m not really sure if there’s a lot to this trail but I do feel like this would be a fun thing to do to kind of get out of the house. If you’re new to the area then this still might be a good thing to do to see certain parts of the city!

Miss Kate’s Tours

Miss Kate’s Tours is one thing that I haven’t done in Valdosta and I think I actually want to try it one day. This seems like a fun thing to do in the area that I have never really thought about.

When I did a little bit of research on things to do around here to make sure that I wasn’t missing out on anything I found out about Miss Kate’s Tours.

This seems like a fun little tour where you get to try new foods and learn new things about the area. Hopefully, this is something that I can work on doing with some of my family in the future. Looking more into Miss Kate’s Tours it got a lot of good reviews as well.

So if you’re traveling through the area this might be a fun thing to do before you head out!

Peach State Summer Theatre

So, the only reason I haven’t done this yet is that I’m waiting until my son gets a little older. I don’t really want to take a four year to an actual play and risk him getting bored and fussy.

When he gets a little older and can actually sit through it I might actually take him. Either that or I’m just going to go on my own. If you have never been to a play then I suggest at least trying to go to one. When I was back in high school I did this sort of thing with my cousin.

I have to admit that it was pretty fun and I want to go again. It makes me wonder if I would have fun with the theatre here as well.

Fun things to do in Valdosta GA by going Thrift shopping

If you are big on shopping then I highly suggest going to some of the thrift stores that are around the area.

For the most part, the thrift stores here aren’t really any different than the ones in other cities. But I do have to say that there are a few of them that kind of stand out. There are tons of thrift stores in the area that I’m hoping to go shopping at at some point while I’m here.

I do have to say that I’m not a huge shopper but I do want to try and visit some of the thrift shops here. Both my son and I need new clothes really badly! Do any of you guys enjoy thrift shopping? If so what type of things do you enjoy thrifting?
